Expressions are the difference between animating by hand and building animations that drive themselves. Across 6 blocks you go from reading your first expression to writing your own: code structure, the language, expression controls, audio-driven graphics and dynamic text. Every concept comes with its exercise and its solution, so you don't just stare at code — you write it. With Jorge Mochón, Adobe Certified Instructor.

By the end of the course you'll know how to

  • Read an expression you did not write and understand what it does before touching it.
  • Adapt any expression you find to your own project, instead of pasting it and hoping it works.
  • Know when an animation is better solved with code than with keyframes — and when it is the other way round.
  • Leave simple controls so someone else, or you in three months, can adjust the animation without touching a line of code.
  • Make graphics react to audio under control, not at random.
  • Automate what repeats —counters, titles, timecodes— so you spend your time on what decides the result.

Is it for you?

This course is for you if…

  • You use After Effects daily and are tired of hand-animating what code could do for you.
  • You copy expressions from the internet without understanding them and want to modify them with confidence.
  • You want to build rigs and templates that drive themselves.

It's not for you if…

  • You have never used After Effects: start with AE-101.
  • You already write complex expressions fluently.
