- Decide how to set up a project based on where the piece will end up: format, resolution and frame rate chosen before you start, not patched at the end.
- Recognise why an animation looks robotic and know what to adjust to give it weight. The eye first, the shortcut second.
- Choose between a mask, a crop or a motion path depending on the shot in front of you, and know which one will give you less trouble two hours later.
- Pull a clean key —from the easy ones to the hard ones— and control transparency along the whole chain, so what you see in the comp is what comes out of the render.
- Choose the codec and the settings for each delivery —client, web, broadcast— knowing what you are giving up with each decision.
